Balls will be dropped from the ladder of a Georgetown fire truck to a two-staged platform with five (5) “holes.” Each hole will be numbered one through five with the Grand Prize being Hole #1.
Chances of winning are dependent upon the number of balls sold. The number of balls available is 28,000. When ball(s) are purchased online, the software system will randomly assign ball numbers to the purchaser. When a donator furnishes an email, the assigned numbers will be sent to the email address provided. This email will also act as a receipt and will serve as proof of a tax deductible donation. All numbered balls, whether assigned by the system or not, will be dropped on the Sunday of the Red Poppy Festival. The Festival is now scheduled for April 28 – 30, 2017 (weather permitting). The date of the drop is Sunday, April 30, 2017. If the Red Poppy Festival dates are changed due to weather, the Sunday of the Festival will be the drop date.
Event Cancellation: If for any reason, beyond the control of the Kiwanis Club of Sun City Georgetown, such as weather conditions, and Red Poppy Festival is not conducted in 2017, the Sun City Georgetown Kiwanis Club reserves the right to determine the winner of the One in the Hole by a random selection method.
Eligibility Purchaser: Anyone to whom a purchaser legally transfers a ball must be 18 years of age or older at time of purchase/transfer. Purchaser may enter more than once and need not be a resident of the State of Texas or present to win. Only one (1) individual may be identified as an entry owner. After purchase, participants will be assigned a numbered ball and receive an email with their ball numbers. This email serves as a tax donation receipt.
By entering the One in the Hole event, the purchaser acknowledges that he or she is aware of, and agrees to abide by the One in the Hole Rules. Odds of winning depend on the number of random numbers sold, as well as where they land when dropped.
Should the numbered ball(s) in any of the five (5) winning holes be a number that has not been sold, the next highest sold number that does not exceed the number in the respective hole, will be declared the winning ball. Example: ball in the hole is 10,178 and that number has not been sold and the next highest number 10,177 has – then 10,177 shall be declared the winner. Ball numbers sold that are 10,179 or higher will not be eligible for that prize.
Waiver/Limitation of Liability: When entering a specific ball drop by purchasing a random ball number, entrants release the Kiwanis Club of Sun City Georgetown and its member, agents, and other related entities, from any and all liability with respect to the prize for each ball drop. By entering the One in the Hole event, winners consent to the use of their name, voice, photograph and/or likeness without limitation or compensation, for advertising and/or compensation, for advertising and/or trade purposes, except where prohibited by law.
All federal, state, local laws and regulations apply. Void where prohibited by law.
Taxes and IRS Rules: Each ball drop prize winner will be required to furnish their respective Social Security Number before any prize is awarded. According to the Internal Revenue Service Notice 1340 Regarding Tax Exempt Organizations and raffle prizes, there may be tax liability incurred by the winners. The Kiwanis Club of Sun City Georgetown will be required to submit IRS Form W-2G and the winning entrant must complete Form 5754 prior to prize distribution.
