All of the funds collected from this program, after expenses*, will be equally split between two (2) local 501(c)(3) IRS approved organizations. They are:
Georgetown ISD Educational Foundation: Money raised by the Foundation will go for grant requests made by teachers in the GISD. This is a wonderful way to get needed funds directly in the hands of those who know the children’s needs. http://www.gisdedfound.org
Kiwanis Club of Sun City Georgetown: This all volunteer club provides wonderful services for all levels of educational needs here in Georgetown.
- Reading/Books Program: Pre-K thru 2nd grade Title I schools. Kiwanians read to these children and then give each student a copy of the book being read. Over the course of both semesters, the total distribution of books exceeds 4,500. (Head Start Program and one Jarrell ISD campus included)
- Key Clubs: The Kiwanis Key Clubs are on all three high school campuses: Georgetown, East View and Richarde.
- Scholarships: Seven (7) scholarships of $2,000 each are provided annually**.
